LogicNow

LogicNow was a provider of integrated, cloud-based IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions primarily serving the Managed Service Provider (MSP) community. The company originated from HoundDog Technology, which was co-founded by Alistair Forbes in 2004. LogicNow was officially established in 2009. It was known for its SaaS platform that enabled MSPs to manage and secure IT infrastructure for their clients.

The company's core product was the MAXfocus platform, which included remote management, backup and disaster recovery, mail security, and a service desk. This integrated suite allowed MSPs to handle tasks such as network monitoring, patch management, managed antivirus, and web protection from a single dashboard. LogicNow also developed a machine learning platform called LOGICcards, which used data from millions of endpoints to predict the IT service needs of small businesses. Another product, ControlNow, was tailored for corporate IT departments, combining remote IT management and security tools.

The company's business model was subscription-based, offering its SaaS solutions to a global customer base. By 2016, the platform was used by approximately 200,000 engineers daily. Key investors included Bessemer Venture Partners and Insight Partners, with the company raising $82.2 million over two funding rounds. The CEO was Walter Scott, and Alistair Forbes served as General Manager.

On June 1, 2016, LogicNow was acquired by SolarWinds. The acquisition led to the merger of LogicNow with SolarWinds N-Able, creating a new entity called SolarWinds MSP. At the time of the acquisition, the combined entity served over 18,000 MSPs, managing more than five million endpoints and one million mailboxes worldwide.
