About Locale

Founded in 2016 by Nitesh Gandhi, Locale established itself as a residential hospitality company focused on transforming upscale apartments into accommodations for intentional travelers. Gandhi, with extensive experience in the hotel and vacation rental industry, aimed to create an aparthotel brand that bridged the gap between residential living and hospitality, emphasizing intentional design, curated products, and technology-driven service. The company's business model involved partnering with owners and developers of high-end apartment buildings to lease and operate furnished units as hotel-style rentals. This strategy provided benefits to multifamily property owners, such as faster lease-ups and reduced vacancies, by catering to business, leisure, and extended-stay travelers.

Locale's service was designed for travelers seeking the comfort and space of a residential apartment, including fully-equipped kitchens and spacious living areas, combined with the amenities and quality of an upscale hotel. The company operated in major U.S. markets, including Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, and Nashville. This approach allowed Locale to offer a consistent, branded experience that was more cost-effective to operate than traditional hotels. The target clientele included families, millennial business travelers, and larger groups who valued the blend of home-like freedom and hospitality services.

The company achieved significant growth, reporting a 200% year-over-year revenue increase by early 2020. A key milestone was securing an $11 million Series A funding round in January 2020, which brought its total funding to $14 million. This capital was intended to fuel expansion into new markets like Denver and Charleston, enhance its digital products, and improve in-room offerings. In a strategic move for the alternative lodging sector, Locale was acquired by Mint House in February 2025. The acquisition, a mix of cash and stock, aimed to scale operations and leverage the combined strengths of both companies. Following the acquisition, Nitesh Gandhi transitioned to a senior advisor role to help guide the merged entity's growth, and Locale's properties were set to be integrated into the Mint House portfolio.
