LF Logistics emerged as a significant entity in the Asia-Pacific logistics sector, originating from the broader history of Li & Fung, which began in 1906. The logistics-focused arm, LF Logistics, was formally established in 1999. It was privately owned by Li & Fung, holding a 78.3% stake, and Temasek Holdings with the remaining 21.7%.

The company's core business revolves around providing integrated logistics and supply chain management services. It specializes in omnichannel fulfillment, e-commerce, and inland transportation, catering to B2B and B2C distribution needs. Clients primarily operate in the retail, wholesale, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverage, and footwear and apparel sectors. Revenue is generated by offering these comprehensive end-to-end supply chain solutions, from the factory to the end consumer. Before its acquisition, the company managed an extensive network of 223 warehouses across 14 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, totaling 2.7 million square meters of space and employing approximately 10,000 people.

A pivotal moment in the company's history was its acquisition by A.P. Moller - Maersk. The agreement was reached in December 2021, and the transaction, valued at $3.6 billion, was completed in August 2022. This acquisition was a strategic move for Maersk to expand its footprint beyond ocean shipping and become an integrated logistics provider, particularly strengthening its capabilities in the fast-growing Asian consumer markets. Following the acquisition, LF Logistics began the process of being rebranded to Maersk. As part of the deal, Maersk and Li & Fung entered a strategic partnership to develop a comprehensive range of end-to-end global supply chain services.
