Lewa Technology, established in Shanghai in April 2011, was the developer of LeWa OS, a deprecated mobile operating system based on Android. The company secured angel investment from Green Pine Capital Partners in June 2011 and a subsequent $7.9 million funding round in July 2012, which included Tencent. The firm's primary focus was developing custom ROMs (Read-Only Memory) for low-cost Android smartphones, particularly those priced under 1000 yuan.

LeWa OS was a third-party firmware designed as a replacement for the stock Android operating system on a variety of devices, aiming to provide a more localized and feature-rich experience for Chinese users. By mid-2012, it had become one of the most popular custom ROMs in China, alongside competitors like MIUI. The business model centered on providing this customized operating system to smartphone manufacturers and offering it directly to users for flashing onto their existing devices. LeWa OS was also a pioneer in the custom firmware space by being the first to support the dual-SIM standby feature.

The operating system, LeWa OS, included several distinct features. It came with its own application store, the "LeWa Market," a power-saving mode, and customizable notification bar switches. Later versions, such as LeWa OS 5, introduced a refreshed user interface with dynamic icons, an enhanced lock screen that displayed more information, and a "Bird's-eye view" screen that consolidated task management, system tools, and notifications. The OS also aimed to improve upon standard Android functions like calls and messaging, merging contacts, call history, and messages into a unified interface. Weekly over-the-air updates were released to introduce new features and improvements. Despite its initial popularity and feature set, the operating system is now considered deprecated.
