In December 2022, the company officially changed its name from Qingdao KingAgroot Resistant Weed Management Co., Ltd. to Qingdao KingAgroot CropScience Co., Ltd. to reflect its expanded scope.

The firm's business model integrates research and development, production, and sales. KingAgroot develops and commercializes patented compounds for crop protection and utilizes advanced breeding techniques to create improved seeds. Its operations have expanded from solely herbicides to include a comprehensive portfolio of insecticides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators. The company has developed and commercialized several globally patented herbicides, such as cypyrafluone, bipyrazone, fenpyrazone, and tripyrasulfone. It plans to launch over 16 new compounds by 2030. In its biotech division, the company develops seeds with traits like herbicide tolerance, insect resistance, and disease resistance using technologies such as gene editing. They have developed proprietary gene-editing techniques named CSE and KSE. The company also has a seed brand called "KingField" for elite varieties of corn, soybean, and canola. By the end of the decade, KingAgroot aims to introduce new herbicides to the Australian market in partnership with Nufarm.
