About Kickgoing

Olulo is the operator of Kickgoing, South Korea's first shared electric scooter service, which has expanded to include electric bicycles. The company was founded in 2018 by CEO Choi Young-woo, who aimed to make urban travel a more enjoyable experience. Kickgoing launched in September 2018 and has since grown to serve a large user base, reaching 1.2 million subscribers by May 2021.

The service operates via a mobile app that allows users to locate, unlock by scanning a QR code, and rent available e-scooters and e-bikes for short-distance trips. The platform is designed for last-mile mobility, bridging the gap between public transportation and the user's final destination. The business model is usage-based, with a fee to start a trip and subsequent charges per minute. To enhance user convenience and operational efficiency, the company has partnered with other businesses, such as offering discounted rides to tenants of SparkPlus co-working spaces and collaborating with LG Electronics to pilot wireless charging stations.

Olulo has secured funding from various investors, including Hyundai Motor Company, Magna Investment, and a strategic investment from Samchuly Bicycle Co., Korea's largest bicycle supplier. In August 2024, it was announced that Olulo would merge with PUMP (operator of the 'Xingxing' service), with PUMP remaining as the surviving entity. This consolidation created a combined user base of 5 million, significantly expanding market share in a consolidating industry.
