About Ki 13

Ki 13 (formerly Ki Hydrogen) is a UK cleantech company developing low-cost green hydrogen and biogenic carbon dioxide from lignocellulosic biomass waste for synthetic fuels such as e-SAF, e-methanol and e-methane. Founded in 2022 through Carbon13 by Koji Muto (CEO), Dr Michael Stanton and Dr Carl Banbury, its low-temperature electrochemical biomass process aims to cut electricity intensity versus water electrolysis plus direct air capture (company figures ~25 kWh/kg H2 and ~300 kWh/t CO2). After pre-seed backing from HICO Investment Group and Desai Ventures, in September 2026 Ki 13 raised a $5 million seed led by HICO Investment Group with Burgest, Triple Impact Ventures, GiTV and Desai Ventures, alongside Innovate UK non-dilutive match funding, to build an industrial pilot plant and advance commercial deployment.
