Jianjia Robot
Develops a hard tissue surgical robot platform promoting technological progress in the field of surgery at home and abroad
About Jianjia Robot
Jianjia Robot, legally known as Hangzhou Jianjia Medical Technology Co., Ltd., is a high-tech enterprise concentrated on the research, development, production, and sales of surgical robots. Founded in 2018 by Xu Jing, who has over a decade of experience in the medical device industry, the company is situated in Hangzhou's Future Science and Technology City. Jianjia Robot aims to provide hospitals with high-precision, intelligent surgical solutions, addressing the growing demand in the orthopedic market, which is expanding partly due to an aging population.
The company's flagship product is the ARTHROBOT, a robotic system designed for joint replacement surgeries. This platform assists surgeons with preoperative planning, precise intraoperative execution, and postoperative evaluation. The hip replacement version of ARTHROBOT was the first domestically developed robot of its kind in China to receive a Class III medical device registration certificate in April 2022. A knee replacement version followed, receiving its certification in January 2023. A key feature of the ARTHROBOT is its seven-axis cooperative arm, which provides the flexibility of a human arm, enhancing force control and precision during procedures like prosthesis installation. This technology helps to reduce uncertainties and improve the accuracy of prosthesis implantation, which has traditionally been highly dependent on a surgeon's individual experience.
Jianjia Robot has secured significant financial backing from prominent investors. After initial investments in 2018, the company raised a Series A round led by Baidu Ventures in early 2020. This was followed by a Series B round of over RMB 100 million (approximately USD 14.6 million) in September 2020, with participation from GL Ventures, Hillhouse Capital, Fosun Pharma, and Baidu Ventures. In May 2021, a Series C financing round raised hundreds of millions of yuan, led by LYFE Capital and including SoftBank China Capital. The company generates revenue through the sale of these advanced surgical robot platforms to hospitals. Distribution is supported by partners like Chindex Medical Limited, a subsidiary of investor Fosun Pharma. The company's development also has roots in China's 863 Program, a state initiative to promote domestically developed technologies.
