CEO Adam Greenberg's background includes a former role as a financial analyst at Amazon and degrees in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Washington. Inspired by his botanist father, Greenberg aimed to apply data-driven principles to agriculture. The founding team combined expertise in technology and agriculture, with Matt King bringing experience from working on Boeing's manufacturing systems.

The company's core product is the LUNA platform, an AI-powered system that uses autonomous rail-mounted cameras and canopy-level sensors to monitor crops in real-time. The company has expanded through strategic acquisitions, including pest management consultancy CropWalk and CEA analytics platform Artemis in 2021. As of April 2025, IUNU has raised a total of $65 million in funding through multiple rounds, with plans to expand its presence in North America and Europe. The latest funding tranche of $20 million was led by S2G Investments.
