About Itk

Itk is an agri-intelligence company founded in 2003 by Dr. Eric Jallas, a former research director at CIRAD (French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development). The company develops decision support tools (DST) that leverage artificial intelligence, agronomic modeling, and IoT to improve the technical, economic, and environmental performance of agricultural operations. Jallas, who passed away in May 2024, was a pioneer in applying AI to agriculture, driven by a vision to create an "Airbus of agricultural intelligence".

The company's business model involves providing its software solutions as a service, where clients pay a usage fee for continuous assistance rather than purchasing the software outright. It serves a global client base that includes farmers, agricultural cooperatives, advisors, and insurers. A key partner is the American cooperative Land O'Lakes. In October 2023, itk was acquired by the French cooperative group Innoval, which became the majority shareholder, aiming to accelerate the modernization of its members' farms.

Itk's core offerings are a suite of software platforms: * **Vintel®**: For perennial crops like vineyards, this tool helps manage water needs, nitrogen status, and forecasts risks like powdery mildew. * **CropWin®**: Designed for annual crops such as wheat and corn, it optimizes irrigation and fertilization to maximize yield and return on investment. * **FarmLife®**: A monitoring service for livestock, particularly dairy cattle, that tracks animal behavior to predict health events, heat stress, and optimize production. The platform monitors over 350,000 cows globally.

The company has production sites in Rennes, Montpellier, and San Francisco and has raised a total of $12.4M to $13.5M over several funding rounds. Before its acquisition by Innoval, investors included EDF Group and Starquest Capital.
