The company's core business is the design, engineering, and manufacturing of smart electric motorcycles and associated energy solutions. Ion Mobility's business model involves direct sales of its electric motorbikes to consumers, with an initial focus on the Indonesian market, one of the largest two-wheeler markets globally. To support its ecosystem, the company signed an agreement with Indonesia's state-owned grid operator, Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), to expand the charging infrastructure. Revenue is generated from the sale of these vehicles. The company has successfully raised significant capital, securing a total of $31.3 million over four funding rounds, including a notable Series A round led by TVS Motor Company, which also acts as a strategic investor. This partnership provides Ion Mobility with access to TVS Motor's extensive expertise in the two-wheeler industry. The company was acquired by TVS Motor Company in January 2025.

Ion Mobility's flagship product is the M1-S electric motorcycle, which was launched in Jakarta in November 2022. The M1-S is engineered to offer a compelling alternative to traditional petrol-powered bikes, combining futuristic design with practical functionality. It features a 5kW electric motor that delivers a peak power of 12.5kW, allowing for acceleration from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 105 km/h. Customers can choose between two battery configurations, offering a range of 120km to 150km. The bike includes practical features like 26 liters of under-seat storage, a Combi Brake System (CBS), and smart features like keyless start. The design and engineering process for the M1-S utilized Siemens' Xcelerator portfolio, including NX software, for everything from styling to battery pack development, enabling a globally distributed team to bring the product from concept to manufacturing readiness.
