About Invodo

Founded in 2006 by Gard Mayer, Invodo carved a niche in the e-commerce sector by providing visual commerce and video marketing solutions. The Austin-based company developed an online video-marketing platform designed to help brands and retailers engage with shoppers and increase conversion rates. Invodo offered a comprehensive suite of services, including video production, cross-channel distribution, testing, and measurement, leveraging its own proprietary tools and facilities to create high-quality, scalable video content.

The firm's business model revolved around creating interactive video and visual experiences for product marketing. These visual assets were proven to boost sales, improve traffic through SEO and social networks, and reduce product returns for its clients, which included major retailers and brands. Invodo positioned itself as a thought leader in the space, publishing numerous studies and benchmarks on the impact of video on the shopping experience. By 2009, the company had amassed a library of over 20,000 product videos and syndicated them to more than 850 e-commerce sites.

Invodo's growth was supported by key funding rounds, including a $6 million Series B in July 2009 from investors Sevin Rosen and S3 Ventures. This capital injection was aimed at expanding its market presence and enhancing its delivery platform. Ultimately, Invodo was acquired by Industrial Color Studios (a division of CoCreativ) in March 2018, a move that integrated Invodo's scalable video expertise with Industrial Color's broader photography and production capabilities. At the time of the acquisition, Eric Engineer was the CEO of Invodo.
