IntraLens Vision Inc. operates as a medical device company focused on developing implantable products to correct and maintain vision. Founded in 1996 and previously known as Anamed Inc., the Lake Forest, California-based company has concentrated its efforts on creating solutions for presbyopia, a common age-related condition that makes reading without glasses difficult for people over 40.

The company's primary product is a corneal implant lens designed to treat presbyopia. This type of product falls within the broader market of intraocular lenses (IOLs), which are artificial lenses implanted in the eye, often during cataract surgery, to correct vision problems. The business model centers on the development and eventual commercialization of these medical devices to ophthalmic surgeons and their patients. Revenue is anticipated through the sale of these specialized lenses once they receive regulatory approval.

In March 2005, IntraLens Vision secured $12 million in a third round of venture funding. The financing was co-led by Canaan Partners and InterWest Partners. These funds were earmarked for advancing the lead product through third-phase clinical trials. Concurrent with this funding, the company appointed Randy Alexander, an experienced executive in the ophthalmic device sector, as its chief executive. Alexander previously served as CEO of IntraLase Inc. and held an executive role at Chiron Vision, which later became part of Bausch & Lomb Inc.
