About Internet Broadcasting
Internet Broadcasting (IB) was a provider of a SaaS-based digital publishing platform, syndicated content, and a digital advertising agency founded in 1996. The company primarily served local television companies, offering solutions for creating and managing their websites. Its client roster included major media groups like Hearst Television, Post-Newsweek Stations, and McGraw-Hill Broadcasting. The business model focused on providing a comprehensive suite of services to help media publishers manage content, engage audiences, and generate advertising revenue.
In March 2014, Nexstar Broadcasting Group acquired Internet Broadcasting for approximately $20 million. Following the acquisition, IB operated as a separate division within Nexstar's digital media portfolio. A year later, in March 2015, Nexstar consolidated its three digital technology providers—Internet Broadcasting, Inergize Digital, and The Enterprise Technology Group (EndPlay)—into a new, single operating unit called Lakana. This merger aimed to create a more robust company to serve publishers by simplifying their digital operations and maximizing revenue across various channels. Lakana continued to offer a SaaS content management platform and integrated services for media publishers, serving over 300 TV stations, newspapers, and other brands.
