Intelligent Energy is a fuel cell engineering company focused on the development and manufacturing of its Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell products. The company's origins trace back to research at Loughborough University in the late 1980s, which led to the formation of a spin-off, Advanced Power Sources (APS) Ltd, in 1995. Intelligent Energy was then founded in 2001 by Harry Bradbury and acquired APS, along with its intellectual property.

The company provides zero-emission power systems ranging from 800W to over 300kW. Its product portfolio includes lightweight fuel cells for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) (IE-SOAR), systems for materials handling and stationary power (IE-POWER and IE-LIFT), and high-power systems for the automotive, aerospace, and marine sectors (IE-DRIVE and IE-FLIGHT). These products are designed to offer a clean, high-efficiency power source, serving as an alternative to traditional batteries and internal combustion engines by providing longer operational times and faster refueling.

Intelligent Energy serves a global market, with clients in the automotive, aerospace, power generation, materials handling, and UAV sectors. The business model centers on the commercialization and manufacturing of its fuel cell technology. The company has engaged in strategic partnerships, including a joint venture with Scottish and Southern Energy for combined heat and power (CHP) systems and collaborations with Suzuki and Boeing on vehicle and aviation applications, respectively. In October 2017, Intelligent Energy was acquired by Meditor Energy, part of the Meditor Group.
