About Intcomex
In 1989, the father-son duo of Anthony and Mike Shalom started a small software distribution company in South Florida. They called it Intcomex. That same year, they began exporting technology products to several countries in Latin America. This early move set the stage for their entire business strategy: becoming the go-to distribution platform for tech products throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. What followed was a methodical expansion, country by country. Mexico in 1990, Panama and Chile in 1994, and then Peru, Guatemala, and Uruguay by 1997. Instead of just shipping from a central US location, they established local subsidiaries, building an in-country presence that understood the nuances of each market. This network became their core strength, allowing them to serve over 50,000 distribution channels, from small retailers to large telecommunications operators. A significant event in their journey was the 2020 acquisition of ScanSource's Latin American operations outside of Brazil. This move expanded their portfolio in the point-of-sale and data capture markets, further solidifying their position. By focusing on logistics and value-added services like training and technical support, Intcomex became more than just a distributor; they became an indispensable platform for both global manufacturers and local resellers across 41 countries.
