Stent System Technology for Preventing Embolization
About InspireMD
InspireMD, Inc. is a medical device company founded in 2005, now with headquarters in Miami, Florida, after initially being based in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company operates on a commercial-stage business model, generating revenue primarily through the sale of its stent systems via a global network of distributors and direct sales channels. For the full year 2024, revenue increased by 13.0% to $7.0 million.
The company is steered by CEO Marvin Slosman, who brought over 30 years of medical device industry experience when he joined, having held leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson, GE Healthcare, and Baxter. The leadership team is further strengthened by individuals with extensive backgrounds in financial management and healthcare, including former CFO Craig Shore, who had a 25-year career with roles at Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb before his retirement, and his successor Michael Lawless.
InspireMD's core focus is the development and commercialization of its proprietary MicroNet™ technology, a mesh made from a single strand of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) designed to wrap around a stent. This technology is central to its flagship product, the CGuard Embolic Prevention System (EPS). The CGuard stent is designed to treat carotid artery disease, a condition that can lead to stroke, by widening narrowed arteries. Its key feature is the MicroNet mesh, which traps plaque and other debris against the vessel wall, preventing them from breaking off and causing a stroke. The system combines a flexible open-cell stent with this protective mesh, aiming to provide both acute safety during the procedure and long-term durability.
A significant milestone was achieved in June 2025 when InspireMD received Premarket Approval (PMA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its CGuard Prime Carotid Stent System. This approval was based on the C-GUARDIANS pivotal trial, which demonstrated very low rates of major adverse events at both 30 days (0.95%) and one year (1.93%). Following the FDA's decision, the company commenced the U.S. commercial launch of CGuard Prime. The system had already received CE Mark approval in Europe, allowing for its sale in those markets. To fund its U.S. launch and other operations, the company secured approximately $58 million through an equity private placement and the exercise of warrants.
