Small business CRM and project management web app MoreLess

Founded in 2009 by Anthony Smith, Insightly provides a cloud-based platform that unifies customer relationship management (CRM), marketing automation, customer service, and project management. The company's genesis traces back to Perth, Australia, where Smith, a software engineer with a background in consulting for companies like IBM and in the mining industry, identified a gap in the market for effective CRM tools for small businesses. After developing the initial platform, which quickly gained traction on the Google Apps marketplace, the company relocated to San Francisco in 2012 to be closer to the tech ecosystem and secured its first round of funding.

Insightly's business model is subscription-based, offering several pricing tiers to cater to a diverse client base, from small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) to larger enterprises. Revenue is generated through these tiered plans, which provide varying levels of functionality, as well as through add-on services. The company targets a wide array of industries, including consulting, media, technology, and manufacturing, with a significant portion of its customers being SMBs.

The core of Insightly's offering is a unified platform that provides a single source of truth for all customer data. The Insightly CRM enables sales teams to manage contacts, track leads through customizable pipelines, and automate workflows. The Insightly Marketing application allows for the creation of marketing campaigns, email and landing page design, dynamic list segmentation, and the mapping of customer journeys. Complementing these is Insightly Service, a customer service management tool featuring a ticketing system, knowledge base, and a customer portal to streamline support. The platform's integrated project management capabilities allow users to manage post-sales activities, track milestones, and ensure deliverables are met. In July 2024, the private equity firm CrestRock Capital acquired Insightly and subsequently merged it with the marketing company Unbounce.
