About Infocrossing
In the world of technology, not every story is about a flashy consumer app. Some are about the picks and shovels. This is one of those. Founded in 1984, Infocrossing started with a simple, powerful insight: companies needed their data processed, but didn't always want to manage the complex and expensive infrastructure themselves. Led by Chairman and CEO Zach Lonstein, the New Jersey-based company provided IT infrastructure outsourcing. They managed mainframes, servers, and networks, becoming a go-to for mid-sized companies looking to offload critical but non-core operations. The company steadily grew, eventually listing on the NASDAQ exchange. The major turning point came in August 2007. Wipro, the Indian IT services giant, was executing a 'string of pearls' strategy to acquire key capabilities and expand its global footprint. Infocrossing, with its strong US client base, five data centers, and expertise in the healthcare sector, was a perfect fit. Wipro announced it would acquire the company in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $600 million. The acquisition was, at the time, one of the largest overseas acquisitions by an Indian IT company and significantly bolstered Wipro’s infrastructure and healthcare offerings.
