Immensa
Digital inventory solutions for on-demand spare parts.
About Immensa
Immensa is a digital manufacturing company founded in 2016 by Fahmi Al-Shawwa and Omar Abuhabaya, specializing in additive manufacturing (AM) and digital inventory solutions for the energy, oil and gas, and petrochemical sectors. The company operates primarily in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with facilities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and is expanding into North America.
Co-founder and CEO Fahmi Al-Shawwa, after a career in finance and operational management, identified an opportunity to apply 3D printing to solve complex supply chain challenges. His interest in the technology led him to establish Immensa to dematerialize physical spare parts into digital files for on-demand production. Co-founder Omar Abuhabaya serves as the company's COO.
Immensa's core business revolves around helping companies transition from physical warehouses to digital inventories, addressing a global energy spare parts market valued at $91 billion. This model reduces inventory costs, shortens lead times, and minimizes waste. The company's proprietary platform, Immensa360, is an end-to-end digital inventory solution that allows clients to securely store digital twins of parts, which can then be manufactured locally as needed. The platform includes a digital library, 2D/3D viewers, and detailed manufacturing and testing specifications for each part. Immensa has also integrated AI and machine learning into its software to enhance inventory assessment and data management.
Since its inception, Immensa has raised a total of $27 million over three funding rounds. A Series A round in November 2021 brought in $7 million, led by investors including Energy Capital Group and Al Turki Ventures. This was followed by a $20 million funding round in November 2023, led by Global Ventures, with participation from Endeavor Catalyst Fund and others, to fuel global expansion and technology development. In November 2020, Immensa expanded into the Saudi market by acquiring two local 3D-printing companies, Shakl3D and LayLabs. A significant milestone was achieved in December 2023 when Immensa became the first company in the MENA region to receive DNV certification for the additive manufacturing of metallic parts, a critical standard for the energy sector.
Immensa provides services including digitization of physical parts, development of digital warehouse solutions, and on-demand production through its network. The company operates on a subscription-based model for its digital spare parts platform and also generates revenue from its manufacturing-as-a-service (MaaS) network. By creating digital supply chains, Immensa offers financial, operational, and environmental benefits to its clients, which include major industrial operators like Saudi Aramco's Jubail Refinery (SASREF).
