Designs, builds and operates public and private market infrastructure for syndicated loan markets
About ILex
iLex, officially INSTITUTIONAL LENDING EXCHANGE PTE. LTD., is a Singapore-based financial technology company incorporated on March 26, 2019, by founder and CEO Bertrand Billon. Billon, with a background at PwC and Societe Generale Corporate Investment Banking, launched iLex to modernize the corporate loan market, an industry he noted was lagging in technological adoption compared to equities and bonds. The company provides a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform designed to digitize and streamline the syndicated loan and private credit markets.
The firm operates in the multi-trillion dollar corporate loan market, serving clients such as banks, asset managers, private debt funds, and debt advisors. Its business model centers on providing a comprehensive, all-in-one digital platform that enhances liquidity, efficiency, and transparency for both primary issuance and secondary trading of loans. iLex has successfully raised a total of $11 million in capital through several funding rounds, with its latest pre-Series A round closing at $7 million in July 2024. These funds are aimed at advancing the product roadmap and accelerating platform adoption across the EMEA and APAC regions.
The platform offers a suite of integrated solutions. This includes 'iLex Market', which provides a real-time, visual marketplace of deal opportunities, and 'iLex Analytics', which aggregates data from partners like Refinitiv and S&P Global to offer market intelligence. The platform also features secure virtual deal sites with tools for managing workflows, engaging investors, and collaborating in real-time, such as live chats and automated bookbuilding. By unifying deal datasets and automating workflows from front to back, iLex addresses major industry challenges like operational inefficiencies and information silos created by reliance on manual processes and legacy systems.
Since its inception, the company has expanded its network to include over 500 active loan desks globally and has onboarded many of the world's leading bookrunners. A significant milestone was achieved in November 2022, when assets listed on the platform surpassed US$10 billion. The company continues to form strategic partnerships, such as with Tesselate, to enhance connectivity and straight-through processing for its clients.
