Igenomix was founded in 2009 by Carlos Simon as a spin-off from the IVI Group, one of the world's largest in-vitro fertilization (IVF) clinics. The company quickly established itself as a leader in reproductive genetic testing, providing crucial molecular genetic diagnostics for IVF and rare diseases.

Under Simon's leadership, Igenomix expanded its reach globally, setting up laboratories in 23 countries and assisting hundreds of thousands of patients each year. The company's innovative approach to genetic testing has been instrumental in advancing the field of reproductive medicine, offering services that support clinics and patients throughout the fertility journey.

A significant milestone in Igenomix's journey came in 2019 when EQT, a leading investment firm, acquired control of the company. This acquisition valued Igenomix at over 400 million euros, underscoring its position as a global leader in biotechnology. The partnership with EQT provided Igenomix with the resources to further expand its services and continue its mission of improving reproductive health outcomes worldwide.

In 2021, Igenomix reached another pivotal moment when it was acquired by Vitrolife, a company specializing in IVF device portfolios, for an enterprise value of 1.25 billion euros. This acquisition marked a new chapter for Igenomix, combining its genetic testing services with Vitrolife's expertise in IVF devices to enhance the support offered to fertility clinics and patients globally. Today, Igenomix stands as a testament to the impact of innovative genetic testing in reproductive medicine.
