About IDOM CaaS Technology
IDOM CaaS Technology operates as a Car-as-a-Service (CaaS) and FinTech entity, spun off in April 2020 from IDOM Inc., the company behind the major Japanese used-car retailer 'Gulliver'. The firm was established to address the increasing financial hurdles of car ownership, driven by rising vehicle prices and diversifying lifestyles. Naoki Yamahata, the President and CEO, spearheaded the venture with the aim of creating new business models by merging finance and technology to make car access more attainable. His personal experience in his twenties, seeking affordable ways to drive, influenced the company's direction. The company's business model is centered on redefining vehicle value and driver creditworthiness.
At its core, the company utilizes two proprietary technologies: "Resale Value Tech" and "Credit Tech". The first is an AI-powered system that leverages vast amounts of vehicle transaction data from its parent company, Gulliver, to accurately forecast the future residual value of cars. This allows the company to offer vehicles to consumers at optimal times in their depreciation cycle, reducing the overall cost of use. The second, "Credit Tech," is an unconventional credit assessment model. Instead of focusing on a person's past financial history, it evaluates their current and future potential, even allowing customers to build their credit through responsible use of rental services, eventually graduating to more flexible lease or ownership options. Driving behavior data, collected in partnership with companies like SmartDrive, is also integrated to reward safe drivers and enhance the credit model.
Revenue is generated through a portfolio of services aimed at individual consumers. This includes "NOREL," a subscription-based leasing service; "NOREL GO," a flexible, fixed-rate rental service; and "GO2GO," a personal car-sharing application. These services are designed to provide alternatives to traditional car ownership, catering to various needs from short-term rentals to long-term leases and installment sales. The company also offers its "Car-LTV Manager," a system for corporate clients to manage vehicle residual value and condition. Since its inception, the company has seen significant growth, achieving sales of over 5 billion JPY and serving over 43,000 users by July 2025.
