IDEADED
Developing processes and materials technologies enabling the next generation of everyday IoT electronics
About IDEADED
IDEADED S.L. operates as a deep-tech semiconductor company focused on pioneering the next wave of digital technologies through advancements beyond traditional silicon. Founded in 2015 in Girona, Spain, by Eduard Puig, who also serves as the CEO, the company has established itself as a key player in the development of non-silicon, low-dimensional-material microchips. These chips are engineered to deliver superior performance and energy efficiency at a reduced cost, addressing the physical, energy, and economic limitations of silicon, particularly in ultrascaled nodes and Internet of Everything (IoE) applications.
The company's strategic focus is on facilitating broader access to the semiconductor industry by becoming a foremost supplier of flexible electronics. Its product portfolio is geared towards applications in distribution, logistics, pharmaceuticals, computing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and defense. A significant part of its operation involves the design and production of sustainable microchips based on alternative materials and flexible substrates. Since May 2025, IDEADED has operated a machine capable of producing 300 million RFID antennas annually, which are crucial for real-time product and inventory tracking, using novel materials and more efficient processes.
A major milestone for IDEADED was the inauguration of the largest private semiconductor cleanroom in Southern Europe, a 500-square-meter facility in Viladecans, Barcelona. This facility, representing a 12-million-euro investment, is dedicated to the development, testing, and small-series production of their proprietary microchips, with a capacity of 5 to 20 million units per year. The company has received substantial financial backing, including a 6-million-euro loan and a €217,488 grant from the Government of Catalonia, and a significant €9.5 million investment from the Spanish government's SETT (Sociedad Española para la Transformación Tecnológica) as part of the PERTE Chip program. In November 2025, IDEADED secured a Series B funding round led by SETT, with participation from Escribano Mechanical and Engineering, totaling $25.6 million, to kick-start industrial deployment and scale commercialization.
Looking ahead, IDEADED anticipates producing its first in-house manufactured wafer in the second half of 2026, with expanded production planned for 2027. The company is also collaborating with defense and security group EM&E Group, which has taken a stake in the company to jointly develop dual-use technologies for civil and defense applications. With a multidisciplinary team of over 50 professionals, including PhD-level scientists from over 15 nationalities, IDEADED is positioned to support the transition to more powerful and sustainable digital infrastructures.
