About Hensoldt
HENSOLDT's roots trace back to 1852, when German optics pioneer Moritz Carl Hensoldt founded an optical workshop for telescopes, astronomical equipment and microscopes in Germany. That 19th-century foundation in precision optics — later centered in Wetzlar — evolved over more than a century and a half into one of Germany's foremost sensor technology firms, eventually becoming part of the Zeiss Group before its optics and precision-mechanics heritage was carried into the modern defense electronics business bearing the Hensoldt name. In its current corporate form, the company originated from the electronics business unit of the defence division of Airbus, and at the end of February 2017, Airbus sold this business unit to the US financial investor KKR for 1.1 billion euros, establishing HENSOLDT as an independent company. On 25 September 2020, Hensoldt AG was listed on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and since December 2020 the German government has held a minimum stake, managed by the Federal Ministry of Defence. Wikipedia + 2 Today, HENSOLDT operates in the defense and security electronics sector, providing cutting-edge solutions for spectrum dominance, optronics, radar, and spectrum management. The company serves a diverse range of clients, including military organizations, government agencies, and private sector entities involved in defense and security. HENSOLDT's market spans globally, with a strong presence in regions such as Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The business model revolves around the development and sale of advanced electronic systems and integrated airborne architectures for both manned and unmanned aircraft. Revenue is generated through the sale of these high-tech products, as well as through ongoing support and training services. HENSOLDT also leverages its integration lab to demonstrate capabilities, train operators, and develop new technologies, particularly in emerging areas like artificial intelligence and data fusion algorithms.
