Helium Star Lightlink Technology, also known as HiStarlink, was established in August 2021 by founder Dr. Tan Jun. The company operates from locations in Shanghai and Shenzhen, China. Positioned as a commercial enterprise focused on space communication technology, HiStarlink directs its efforts towards developing and manufacturing systems to address communication challenges in the satellite internet sector, specifically high costs and low data rates.

The company's core business revolves around the creation of satellite laser communication technology. Its product portfolio is comprehensive, encompassing space-grade core optoelectronic devices, ultra-high-speed communication boards, laser communication terminals, and ground signal transceiver super-terminal systems. These products are engineered to reduce equipment costs and enhance communication speeds for clients in the aerospace and national defense sectors. HiStarlink has developed products capable of supporting up to 80Gbit/s communication and has created space-grade optical transceivers designed for seven years of stable in-orbit operation. One of its key offerings is a satellite-borne laser communication terminal capable of high-speed data transmission over distances up to 5,000 km.

Since its inception, the company has secured multiple rounds of funding from a diverse group of investors, including ZhenFund, MiraclePlus, Creation Venture Partners, and Minsheng Securities, among others. These investments have been channeled into research and development for its space-based laser communication technologies, talent acquisition, and business expansion. A significant milestone for the company includes its role in leading the drafting of the "Satellite Laser Communication Terminal General Technical Specifications" (T/CIET 1379—2025), a group standard that was officially released and implemented on June 5, 2025, underscoring its influence in the industry.
