About Haoliners Animation

Haoliners Animation League is a Shanghai-based animation studio established in 2013 by founder Li Haoling. A graduate of Shanghai Donghua University, Li Haoling began his career in animation production in 2008, initially working as an original plan designer and storyboard artist. His passion for the medium was reportedly sparked after watching an anime that moved him to tears, leading him to abandon his university studies in architecture to pursue animation. After gaining experience on various television projects, he formally founded Haoliners in 2014 to focus on net animated series.

The company operates as a producer and designer of 2-D Chinese animation, handling everything from planning to production. It has become a significant name in the Chinese animation (donghua) market, known for producing adaptations of popular webcomics and novels for major online platforms like Tencent and Bilibili. Its business model involves both original productions and extensive collaborations with studios in Japan and South Korea, enabling a prolific output of content. This international strategy includes a subsidiary, Animation Company Emon, which operates in Japan and South Korea. In February 2021, the entire Haoliners operation, including its subsidiaries, was acquired by the Chinese streaming giant Bilibili, a long-time partner.

Haoliners Animation has produced a number of well-known titles that have gained both domestic and international audiences. The studio's portfolio includes television series, Original Net Animations (ONAs), and collaborative feature films. Notable works that the studio animated or co-animated include "Fox Spirit Matchmaker," "The Daily Life of the Immortal King," "Link Click," and the first season of "Heaven Official's Blessing." The studio also engages in co-productions where it may handle planning and funding while animation is carried out by partner studios, such as with "A Centaur's Life" and the feature film "Flavors of Youth," a collaboration with CoMix Wave Films.
