Guthrie is a non-profit, integrated health care system providing a full spectrum of services across Pennsylvania and New York. Founded in 1910 by Dr. Donald Guthrie, the organization was modeled after the multi-specialty group practice of the Mayo Clinic, where Dr. Guthrie completed his surgical residency. He earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1905 and established the clinic in Sayre, Pennsylvania, with foundational values of prioritizing patient needs, teamwork, and excellence in care.

Guthrie operates as a patient-centered, clinically-integrated network. The system includes six hospitals, such as Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, a Level I Trauma Center, and Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, which joined the system in 2019. Its network also features over 32 regional offices, home care, a research institute, and educational programs, including multiple residencies and fellowships. The Guthrie Medical Group comprises nearly 1,000 physicians and advanced practice providers who serve over a wide geographic area, conducting more than two million patient visits annually. The organization utilizes a robust electronic health record system, eGuthrie, to ensure coordinated care and provide patients with easy access to their health information.
