About GTESS Corp
GTESS Corp, founded in 1990 and based in Richardson, Texas, operated as a specialized technology and business process outsourcing firm focused on the U.S. healthcare market. The company developed a niche in automating the front-end, or pre-adjudication, phase of healthcare claims processing, a traditionally costly and labor-intensive area for insurers. Its client base consisted primarily of healthcare payers, such as health plans, managed care organizations, and benefits administrators.
The firm's business model was centered around a proprietary software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, The GTESS System™, which automated the editing and cleaning of medical claims data. This technology ingested both paper and electronic data interchange (EDI) claims, automatically matching provider and member information and correcting data to ensure a high-quality, standardized data stream was delivered to the payer's adjudication system. This automation-driven approach was designed to significantly increase the volume of claims handled, improve data accuracy, lower processing costs, and reduce turnaround times for its clients.
In December 2003, GTESS secured $10.2 million in a Series A funding round led by investors General Catalyst and Kodiak Venture Partners to support its product development. The company's trajectory involved a series of acquisitions, reflecting its value in the healthcare BPO sector. In September 2010, its assets were acquired by Tricom India, an Indian BPO provider looking to expand its healthcare service offerings. Subsequently, in June 2012, the claims processing business of GTESS was acquired by BancTec, a global BPO leader, to enhance its own healthcare services division.
