In 1968, Gruppo Argenta was founded in Italy with a straightforward mission: providing food and beverage vending services. The company focused on installing, leasing, and maintaining vending machines that offered snacks and drinks, growing its presence steadily within the Italian market. The business was built on convenience, placing machines in offices, companies, and public institutions where people could grab a quick coffee or snack. The company's journey took a significant turn through a series of private equity-led transactions. In 2008, the European Commission approved the acquisition of Gruppo Argenta by the private equity fund Cognetas and the Italian investment fund Investitori Associati. This period marked a phase of consolidation and growth for the company in a fragmented market. A pivotal event in Argenta's history occurred in early 2018 when the Swiss-based Selecta Group, a major European vending and coffee service provider, completed its acquisition of the company from Motion Equity Partners. The move was backed by Selecta's majority shareholder, KKR, a global investment firm. This acquisition marked Selecta's entry into the Italian market, integrating Argenta's well-established operations and client base into its pan-European platform. For Argenta, becoming part of a larger group provided access to greater financial and operational resources, positioning it for continued growth across Europe.
