Green Group operates as a comprehensive recycling conglomerate in Central and Eastern Europe, originating from Romania. The company was established in 2002, starting with its first entity, Greentech, founded by Clement Hung. Hung identified an opportunity in Romania's challenges with plastic waste, which laid the groundwork for the group's formation. Over the years, Green Group expanded into an integrated industrial recycling park, now comprising several specialized divisions.

A significant milestone in the company's history was the acquisition of a majority stake by Abris Capital Partners, a private equity fund, in July 2016. This partnership aimed to foster regional growth and enhance the group's waste collection infrastructure. Today, Green Group is owned by Abris, which focuses on transforming mid-market companies in Central Europe into regional leaders. The company's leadership includes Constantin Damov, who serves as Chairman and is a vocal advocate for the circular economy.

The business model revolves around an integrated supply-recycling-production chain, transforming various waste streams into new economic resources. It provides complete waste management services, from collection and logistics to treatment, recycling, and re-manufacturing. Its clientele includes large multinational companies in sectors like automotive, electronics, and consumer goods, as well as serving municipalities and retailers through collection systems. The group operates through distinct business divisions, each specializing in a different waste stream: GreenTech for PET, GreenWEEE for electronic waste, GreenGlass for glass packaging, and Eltex Recycling for industrial waste management. This structure allows the company to handle a wide array of materials, including PET bottles, electronics, glass, batteries, and lamps. Revenue is generated by processing waste and selling the resulting secondary raw materials and finished products, such as polyester staple fiber made from 100% recycled PET. The firm has steadily grown through strategic acquisitions, including Eltex Recycling in 2020 and Expert Cleaning in 2023 to bolster its industrial waste solutions, as well as expanding into Lithuania with the takeovers of UAB Ecso and UAB Zalvaris.
