Headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, Green Genius operates as a European renewable energy developer and independent power producer. Established in 2006, the company is a subsidiary of the Modus Group, an international conglomerate founded in 1993 by Kestutis Martinkenas. The renewable energy arm of Modus Group was consolidated under the Green Genius brand to streamline its international growth strategy, building on the activities previously managed by Modus Energy since 2011 and the Green Genius brand created in 2018 for market expansion.

The company's core business involves developing, constructing, and operating a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, biomethane, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Its operational footprint extends across eight European countries, such as Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Italy, and Romania, with a development pipeline exceeding 2 GW. Green Genius serves a range of clients, from industrial customers to entire communities, providing them with clean energy solutions. Its business model encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from in-house development and engineering to construction management, operations, maintenance, and securing financing through project finance and M&A activities. Revenue is generated through the sale of developed projects and long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with corporate clients.

One of the company's notable offerings is an energy-as-a-service model, which includes a PV-plus-storage system designed to provide industrial customers with 100% renewable energy coverage, sometimes with no initial investment from the client. A key project exemplifying this is the InnoSolveGreen initiative, which combines on-site and off-site solar plants with battery storage to meet the entire electricity demand of a Carlsberg Group brewery in Lithuania. This project was recognized by the European Commission's Innovation Fund. The company is also venturing into green hydrogen production. Under the leadership of CEO Ruslanas Sklepovičius, who previously served as a Board Member at Modus Group, Green Genius is transitioning from a project developer to an Independent Power Producer, a strategy bolstered by a significant €100 million equity investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
