The story of Globalware Solutions begins not in a garage, but through a strategic combination of two existing companies, ZBR Publications and Bindco Corporation. Under the leadership of James R. Bartlett, who had co-founded ZBR in 1978, the new entity was formed to tackle the growing complexities of the e-business marketplace. The company focused on providing a total solution for software and electronics manufacturers, handling everything from new product releases and content management to manufacturing, fulfillment, and distribution. A pivotal moment arrived in December 2001, when Globalware Solutions secured a significant $30 million first-round financing led by Mezzanine Management. This infusion of capital was earmarked for internal growth and, notably, for acquisitions. The move signaled a clear strategy: to consolidate a maturing supply chain management sector. Following this, the company continued to expand its offerings, acquiring smaller competitors like Internal Matters to broaden its e-commerce capabilities. This series of strategic plays allowed Globalware to offer an integrated suite of services, from web store development to global order fulfillment, positioning it as a key partner for major tech companies navigating the shift to digital content delivery and build-to-demand manufacturing.
