About GlobalCollect
Established in 1994 by Jan Manten and Ron Vollebregt, GlobalCollect carved a niche as a payment service provider specializing in electronic payment solutions for international 'customer-not-present' transactions. Headquartered in Hoofddorp, Netherlands, the company catered to businesses operating through internet sales, mail, and telephone orders across a variety of sectors including travel, retail, telecommunications, and online gaming.
GlobalCollect's core offering was a comprehensive platform designed to simplify global commerce for merchants. Through a single interface, it provided access to an extensive portfolio of over 150 local and international payment methods across more than 170 countries and currencies. This enabled businesses to accept a wide array of payments, from major credit and debit cards to bank transfers and eWallets, thereby expanding their global reach. Beyond payment processing, the company delivered a full suite of services, including multicurrency handling, financial reconciliation, invoicing, and integrated fraud screening tools to secure transactions. The business model focused on being a full-service partner, consulting with clients to help increase transaction volumes and streamline back-office processes.
The company underwent a significant transition when it was acquired by Ingenico Group in a deal finalized on September 30, 2014, for an enterprise value of €820 million. This acquisition was a strategic move by Ingenico to accelerate its presence across all sales channels on a global scale. Following the acquisition, GlobalCollect was merged with Ingenico's ecommerce division, Ogone, to form a new entity called Ingenico ePayments in January 2016. The journey continued as Ingenico Group itself was acquired by Worldline in 2019. While Ingenico was later sold by Worldline in 2022, the entity of GlobalCollect remains under the Worldline brand, now operating as Worldline Global Collect, which continues to provide payment solutions for global e-commerce clients.
