The company was founded in 2003 by Andrew and Matthew Skipsey. Initially established as M12 Solutions, a business-to-business telecommunications provider, the company launched the Giganet brand to focus on the growing demand for high-speed fibre internet.

In 2020, Giganet secured a significant £250 million investment from Fern Trading, which is advised by Octopus Investments, to accelerate the build-out of its own full-fibre network across underserved regions in the South of England, including Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, and West Sussex. This investment marked a pivotal moment, transforming Giganet from primarily a reseller of other networks' services to a network operator in its own right. The company's strategy involves a multi-pronged approach, utilizing its own network, Openreach's infrastructure, and CityFibre's network to maximize its reach across the UK.

Giganet offers a range of hyperfast broadband packages with symmetric speeds, meaning equal upload and download speeds, which is a key differentiator from traditional broadband services. The company aims to provide reliable, high-speed internet access with a strong emphasis on customer service and transparent communication.
