GE Vernova
Energy technology for global electrification and decarbonization.
About GE Vernova
GE Vernova (NYSE: GEV) is a global energy company formed through the spin-off of General Electric's energy businesses, which became effective on April 2, 2024. This strategic separation created a purpose-built entity focused on accelerating the global energy transition. The company's lineage, however, stretches back over 130 years through its GE heritage. Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, GE Vernova is led by CEO Scott Strazik, a long-time GE executive with extensive experience in the company's power and aviation sectors. Strazik's leadership is focused on steering the company to meet rising global electricity demand while advancing decarbonization technologies. The company's business is structured into three core segments: Power, Wind, and Electrification. Its comprehensive portfolio of equipment and services contributes to generating approximately 25-30% of the world's electricity. The primary clients include utility companies, independent power producers, grid operators, and large industrial energy users. Revenue is generated through the sale of large-scale equipment, long-term service agreements (LTSAs), and advanced software solutions. The Power segment designs and services technologies across gas, nuclear, hydro, and steam. A key product is the H-Class gas turbine series, such as the 9HA, which offers high combined-cycle efficiency and fuel flexibility. These turbines are capable of operating on blends of natural gas and hydrogen, with a pathway to 100% hydrogen, positioning them as a critical technology for grid stability in a renewables-heavy future. The Wind segment provides both onshore and offshore wind turbines and blades. Its flagship offshore product, the Haliade-X turbine, is one of the most powerful in operation, with models capable of generating up to 14.7 MW. These turbines are being deployed in major projects like the Dogger Bank Wind Farm in the North Sea, which will be the world's largest upon completion. The Electrification segment offers the hardware and software necessary to modernize the grid. This includes grid solutions, power conversion, high-voltage equipment like HVDC systems, and energy storage. A central offering is the GridOS®, a software platform that unifies grid data and applications, enabling utilities to manage complex networks, integrate renewables, and improve overall system resilience and efficiency.
