Gardman Group
A UK-based home and garden products provider
About Gardman Group
In 1992, a company named Gardman was founded, starting its journey to become a key supplier in the UK's gardening sector. The company, initially registered as Gardware Limited, focused on providing a wide array of garden products, from wild bird care and garden hardware to hanging baskets and decorative items like arches and trellises. It established itself as a go-to source for both independent garden centers and major retailers. The product range was broad, catering to various needs with brands like Grow It, Cole and Bright, and Moulton Mill. The company's trajectory took a dramatic turn in March 2018 when a devastating fire completely destroyed its main warehouse and distribution center in Daventry. This event placed the company under immense financial pressure. By October of the same year, Gardman had entered administration, a procedure for companies facing insolvency. A rescue came swiftly. Westland Horticulture, a major player in the European consumer garden products market, acquired Gardman's business and assets, including its brands and stock, immediately after the company went into administration. The acquisition, estimated to be around £4 million, was seen as a natural fit, as both companies operated in similar market segments and shared a customer base. This move by Westland provided stability to the Gardman brand and ensured its products remained a staple in the gardening landscape.
