FTAPI Software GmbH, a Munich-based company founded in 2010, provides a platform for secure and automated data workflows. The company's genesis traces back to Stephan Niedermeier, who, during his university studies, encountered challenges with transferring large data files and developed the initial prototype in 2009. This concept gained recognition at the Munich Business Plan Competition, leading to the company's formal establishment in late 2010 with Daniel Niesler joining as CEO in 2013. A significant milestone occurred in 2017 when the management team, including Niesler and current CEO Ari Albertini, executed a management buyout.

The company targets organizations requiring GDPR-compliant and encrypted data transmission, serving over 2,000 customers in sectors like public administration, healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing. Its business model centers on providing a comprehensive platform that bundles four combinable products to address various data transfer needs. These products, sold under a proprietary license, are designed to be user-friendly to ensure high adoption rates. The platform operates on a "made and hosted in Germany" principle, emphasizing data security and sovereignty, with ISO 27001 and BSI C5 certifications.

FTAPI's product suite includes SecuMails for end-to-end encrypted email and attachment sending directly from clients like Outlook; SecuRooms, which are virtual data rooms for collaborative work on confidential documents; SecuForms for creating secure online forms to collect sensitive data; and SecuFlows for automating data-intensive workflows and connecting with systems like ERPs. This integrated approach aims to eliminate uncontrolled data flows and shadow IT by providing features such as audit trails and two-factor authentication. The company has secured significant funding, including a €65 million investment in February 2025 from Armira Growth and Tikehau Capital, to fuel expansion across Europe and enhance its product portfolio. This follows a prior Series A round of €14.5 million.
