About FloWater
FloWater operates as a beverage company with a clear mission to disrupt the traditional bottled water industry by providing a decentralized and sustainable water purification platform. Founded in 2013 by co-founders Rich “Raz” Razgaitis and Wyatt Taubman, the company was born from the observation that consumer trust in tap water was declining, leading to increased plastic bottle waste and consumption of unhealthy sugary drinks. Razgaitis, who serves as CEO, brought a background in scaling venture-backed startups and consumer brands, which shaped FloWater's strategic direction and growth. The company initially started in Silicon Valley with an $18,600 bank loan and early funding from friends and family before relocating its headquarters to Denver in 2016.
The core of FloWater's business is its advanced water Refill Station, designed for commercial clients such as offices, schools, hotels, gyms, and retail locations. These stations connect to any potable water line and subject the water to a proprietary 7-stage purification process. This technology, called 7x Advanced Purification, removes up to 99.9% of impurities like lead, PFAS, microplastics, and heavy metals. Following purification, the system enhances the water by adding minerals and electrolytes for improved hydration, increasing alkalinity, and using a coconut carbon filter to create a distinct, clean taste. The business model is primarily based on leasing or selling these Refill Stations to businesses, providing a recurring revenue stream through maintenance and filter replacement services. Its client roster includes major brands like Google, Red Bull, Apple, Marriott, and Peloton.
A significant milestone in the company's journey was its 2022 merger with Bluewater, a Swedish water technology company that had been a strategic investor since 2018. This merger created a global entity in the water purification market, with Bluewater's founder, Bengt Rittri, becoming CEO of the combined organization and Razgaitis continuing to lead FloWater's operations, now known as Bluewater North America. The move was designed to accelerate product innovation, expand into new markets, and achieve supply chain efficiencies. The company has demonstrated strong growth, achieving profitability for two consecutive years post-merger, with a reported 76% top-line growth over that period.
