About Fliz Pay

Fliz Pay GmbH is a Berlin-based fintech startup aiming to reduce payment transaction costs for businesses and consumers across Europe. Founded in October 2023 by Konrad Holtkamp and Roberto Ammirata, the company is developing a mobile payments platform designed to lower transaction fees. The founders, who met while surfing and later developed the idea during an Antler residency in Berlin, bring experience from the financial services sector, including investment banking and consulting. Holtkamp's involvement in a study on European payment transactions highlighted the market's dependence on non-EU systems and their high fee structures, which was a key motivation for creating Fliz Pay.

The company's core service is a mobile payment method that eliminates intermediaries in the payment process, which typically inflate transaction costs. This allows Fliz Pay to offer fee-free payments for approximately 90% of businesses and significantly lower fees for the remaining 10%. The platform operates independently of global payment providers, ensuring that user data remains within the European Union. For consumers, the platform offers discounts and cashback opportunities as merchants share the savings from the reduced fees. The Fliz app allows users to make payments via QR codes, links, or email, send money to friends, and track their transaction history. The system utilizes the established SEPA network for transactions, moving money directly from the user's bank account.

In September 2025, Fliz Pay secured $1 million in a pre-seed funding round led by the early-stage investor Antler. The round also saw participation from several angel investors from the German fintech ecosystem, including the former CTO of SumUp and the founders of viaFinTech. At the time of the funding, the company reported having over 500 merchants and more than 50,000 users. Fliz Pay's business model is centered on making digital payments more accessible and affordable, particularly for small businesses and non-profit organizations. The company provides businesses with the "FLIZ Plugin" as a technical interface and the "FLIZ Business Access" to manage and monitor transactions.
