Fireclick, founded in 1999 and initially known as eRacer, developed web analytics technologies providing online businesses with real-time, actionable information about their customers. The company was established by Stanford University graduate students, including founder Stephane Kasriel. Fireclick's core product, named Blueflame, utilized patent-pending predictive caching technology. This software resided on a network server to monitor end-user page navigation in real-time, predicting and caching the most likely elements a user would need next. This was designed to reduce website download times, improve the user experience, and ultimately increase traffic and revenue for e-commerce sites.

The company's business model focused on helping clients run more effective marketing campaigns and improve operating results through detailed customer analytics. Its technology was considered complementary to hardware-based content delivery networks. Fireclick secured initial seed funding from Atlas Ventures in June 1999 and later received $11 million in backing from investors including Menlo Ventures, Thomas Weisel Partners, and Cisco Investments. In June 2004, Fireclick was acquired by Digital River for $7.5 million.
