Founded in 2016 by a team of former IBM Watson scientists, the company aims to reshape the fashion sector by addressing the shift from large-scale production to a "small-order, quick-response" model. The venture was initiated by Fei Xiang, who serves as CEO, alongside co-founder Liu Ke. Fei Xiang, an AI and big data specialist with extensive experience at IBM's Watson Research Center, identified a critical gap in the market as consumer demand for faster fashion cycles intensified. Traditional factories, optimized for bulk orders, struggled to adapt to the cost and efficiency demands of smaller, high-frequency production runs.

The company's core business revolves around a platform that connects the entire apparel value chain, from raw material suppliers to factories, designers, and brands. Feiliu's business model is a hybrid of SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) and S2B2C (Service-to-Business-to-Consumer), providing digital tools and platform services to manage the production lifecycle. Revenue is generated by offering these solutions to a diverse client base that includes thousands of factories, designers, livestreamers, and established global brands such as Adidas, Nike, and Skechers, as well as e-commerce platforms like Shein.

Feiliu has developed several key products to execute its vision. "SewSmart (针聪明)" is a smart manufacturing collaboration SaaS that enables factories to enhance production efficiency and implement lean management with minimal initial investment. This system can improve efficiency by up to 60% for complex garments and can be deployed within 3-5 days. Another product, "Yilan SCM," focuses on supply chain collaboration for brand clients, integrating with SewSmart to create a synergistic flow between production, supply, and sales. This ecosystem facilitates a highly efficient response to market changes, allowing for sampling in five days and production in seven. The company has secured significant financial backing, completing multiple funding rounds from prominent investors including SoftBank China, GGV Capital, Hillhouse Capital, and ByteDance.
