About Ezgov.com

Founded in 1999 by Bryan Mundy and Ed Trimble, Ezgov emerged during the dot-com era with a vision to move government services online. Trimble, who had a background in information technology with Accenture and smaller software firms, saw an opportunity in 1998 to help governments leverage the internet. The Atlanta-based company specialized in providing software and consulting services to government agencies, enabling them to offer online services that were traditionally handled in person or by mail.

Ezgov's core business centered on its FlexFoundation software platform, an enterprise solution designed to help government agencies deliver services and information through the internet and other channels. This platform provided about 60-70% of a required solution out-of-the-box, with the remaining part customized for specific applications like tax filing, driver's license renewals, or property tax payments. The company's business model evolved from an initial transaction-fee approach to a more traditional software development and services model. It targeted all levels of government—local, state, and federal in the U.S., as well as central governments in Europe—aiming to improve their efficiency and how they served citizens and businesses.

A key milestone for the company was securing its first client, Dekalb County, Georgia, for a property tax payment system shortly after its incorporation. A tragic event in the company's history was the death of co-founder Bryan Mundy in a house fire in January 2001. Despite this loss, the company continued to operate and grow under the leadership of CEO Ed Trimble. Ezgov formed strategic partnerships with major technology players like EDS, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and IBM to offer comprehensive solutions. The company was eventually acquired by ChoicePoint in March 2005.
