The business model centered on providing a cost-effective alternative to subscription-based conferencing services that charge per-minute fees. Sonexis sold a hardware and software solution, the ConferenceManager™, which clients would own outright, allowing for a return on investment typically within a year. This appliance-based model was designed to give organizations, particularly those in security-sensitive sectors like military, finance, and healthcare, greater control over their communications infrastructure. The company generated revenue through the sale of these conferencing platforms and by offering managed services where they would host and administer the client's owned equipment in a Sonexis data center.

The core product, ConferenceManager™, was an on-premise bridge that integrated audio and web conferencing into a single platform. It was designed to be PBX-independent, compatible with various voice and data networks such as PSTN, H.323, and SIP, thus preserving a client's existing infrastructure investments. A key feature was its scalability, allowing clients to expand capacity from as few as 12 to 1000 ports simply by applying a new software license key. The platform also offered a feature called ConferenceBurst™, which enabled software to dynamically expand port capacity on-demand to handle unpredictable usage peaks. In December 2017, the assets of Sonexis were acquired by Compunetix, a provider of collaboration products for telecommunication service providers and large enterprises.
