The company was founded as ExaIntelligence by Makoto Haruta, former chairman of DeNA Co., Ltd. In 2017, it merged with Digital Sensation, a company led by Ko Ishiyama, who was the former head of Recruit's AI research institute. Following the merger, Ko Ishiyama became the President, and Makoto Haruta took the role of CEO. ExaWizards was listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Mothers market in December 2021.
