Evri, a major player in the UK's parcel delivery market, provides shipping services for individuals, small businesses, and large retail brands. The company's history traces back to 1974 when it started as Grattan Mail Order in Yorkshire. Through mergers and evolution, it became known as Parcelnet and later Hermes UK. In March 2022, Hermes UK underwent a significant rebranding to become Evri, a name chosen to reflect "every parcel, every person, every place". This change followed a period of substantial growth and was part of a larger transformation program aimed at revamping its image and enhancing customer service. The company is currently led by CEO Martijn de Lange, who joined the business, then Hermes, in 2013 and has held the chief executive position since November 2017. De Lange, originally from the Netherlands, had a background at TNT Post UK before moving to Hermes, where he has overseen significant growth and a digital-first transition.

Evri's business model is built to be flexible and scalable, catering to the demands of the e-commerce market. It generates revenue through direct sales of its delivery services to consumers and businesses, as well as through partnerships with major UK retailers like Next, ASOS, and John Lewis. A key component of its operational strategy is the use of a large network of self-employed couriers, which allows for competitive pricing. Evri offers a variety of delivery services, including standard and next-day options, courier collections from a customer's location, and international shipping to over 220 destinations. The company has an extensive physical network comprising over 10,000 ParcelShops and Lockers across the UK, providing convenient drop-off and collection points for customers. This network is supported by technologically advanced distribution hubs, including a major automated facility in Barnsley.

The company's services are accessible through its website and a mobile app, which allows users to book shipments, print labels (or use a Print In-ParcelShop device), and track parcels in real-time. Evri also offers integrations with e-commerce marketplaces such as Amazon and Shopify, automating the shipping process for online sellers. To enhance the customer experience, the company has introduced features like personalized video messages that can be added to parcels. In recent years, Evri has formed strategic partnerships, including becoming an accredited carrier for Amazon's Seller Fulfilled Prime service and an agreement with the Post Office for in-branch services, a first for a third-party company in the Post Office's history. The company has also announced intentions to merge with DHL's UK parcel business, a move that is currently under review by the UK's competition authority.
