Evocative Data Centers operates as a global provider of enterprise-class digital infrastructure, offering a comprehensive suite of services that includes colocation, bare metal servers, network connectivity, cloud access, and managed services. The company primarily serves enterprise clients, content providers, and carriers that require secure, scalable, and resilient data solutions to support their digital transformation and edge computing strategies. Read full description
The current iteration of Evocative was formed through a strategic acquisition-based growth plan spearheaded by veteran internet executive and entrepreneur Arman Khalili. Khalili, who has a history of founding and leading infrastructure companies like UnitedLayer and CentralColo, became CEO of Evocative in 2017 after it acquired two Silicon Valley data centers from 365 Data Centers. This marked the beginning of a significant expansion. A key milestone was the 2019 acquisition of VPLS Inc., which substantially enhanced Evocative's cloud and managed services capabilities. The company has continued its aggressive growth trajectory through numerous acquisitions, including assets from Wave Broadband, Carrier-1 Data Centers, and a major acquisition of nine data centers from INAP in 2022. This strategic consolidation of multiple hosting operations under the single Evocative brand has transformed it from a regional operator with two locations into a global provider. In early 2023, after five years of leading the company's rapid expansion, Khalili transitioned from his CEO role to serve on the Board of Directors, appointing 35-year industry veteran Derek Garnier as the new CEO to guide the next phase of growth.
Evocative's service portfolio is designed to provide the foundational building blocks for modern IT infrastructure. Its core offering is colocation services in Tier II and Tier III data centers, providing clients with customizable cabinet, cage, or private suite options featuring flexible power and security packages. The company operates a global network backbone that interconnects its data centers and over 60 Points of Presence (PoPs), enabling efficient data transfer and direct on-ramps to major public cloud providers. This network offers blended internet access from multiple Tier 1 backbones to ensure high availability. For performance-intensive workloads, Evocative provides dedicated bare metal servers, giving clients full control over their hardware resources. This physical infrastructure is complemented by a suite of managed services, including 24/7 monitoring, security, and IT infrastructure management, allowing clients to outsource operational complexities.
