About Everwise

Everwise, founded in 2012 by Mike Bergelson and Colin Schiller, established itself as a talent development platform focused on connecting professionals with resources for career success. The company operated from New York and San Francisco, providing enterprise-level software for corporate clients. Its mission was to facilitate mentorship, peer-to-peer learning, and curated educational content to help employees at all stages of their careers. Prior to its acquisition, Everwise had successfully raised $26.6 million in capital over three funding rounds, with a significant $16 million Series B round led by Sequoia Capital, drawing support from other investors like Webb Investment Network and Canvas Ventures.

The core of Everwise's business was a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform designed for learning and development (L&D) departments within large organizations. The platform used a data-driven approach to help employees set development goals and then matched them with suitable internal mentors, peer groups, and personalized content. This model allowed companies to scale their mentoring and L&D programs efficiently. Everwise served a notable client base that included companies like Genentech, Lyft, Oracle, and Twitter.

In a significant strategic move in March 2020, Everwise was acquired by Torch Leadership Labs, merging to form a comprehensive leadership development platform under the Torch brand. This merger combined Everwise's strengths in scalable mentoring and social learning with Torch's executive coaching capabilities. The unified entity aims to provide an end-to-end suite of development tools, integrating technology, human coaching, and social learning for employees at every level. Following the merger, Colin Schiller, co-founder of Everwise, continued with the new company, and Maynard Webb, a key figure behind Everwise, took on a role as a Torch Board Observer. The combined company has continued to secure funding, raising a $25 million Series B in 2021 and a $40 million Series C in 2022, to further expand its integrated platform and market operations.
