About Everplans

Everplans provides a digital platform for life and legacy planning, conceived by co-founders Abby Schneiderman and Adam Seifer in 2012. The idea stemmed from Schneiderman's experience planning her wedding online, which made her realize the absence of modern tools for end-of-life planning. Both founders brought significant experience in building online communities; Seifer previously co-founded the photo-sharing site Fotolog and the early social network Sixdegrees.com, while Schneiderman co-founded the music social network Haystack Media and worked at a startup incubator.

The company operates on a direct-to-consumer subscription model, with its premium service priced at $99.99 per year, and generates additional revenue through partnerships. Its core offering is a secure digital vault where individuals can organize, store, and selectively share crucial life information. This includes everything from legal documents like wills and trusts, to insurance policies, financial account details, household information, digital asset logins, and personal wishes for end-of-life care. The platform uses bank-level AES-256 encryption to secure user data and allows users to appoint 'deputies'—trusted family members or advisors—who can be granted access to specific information when needed.

Everplans also serves the B2B market through Everplans Professional, a white-label version of its platform for financial advisors, insurance agents, and estate attorneys. Launched in 2015, this service allows professionals to offer co-branded Everplans accounts to their clients, helping them provide more holistic planning, deepen client relationships, and connect with the next generation of heirs. After raising a total of $16.4 million in funding over six rounds, the company was acquired by National Guardian Life Insurance (NGL) in January 2021 to accelerate its growth and digital transformation. Subsequently, in October 2024, Everplans was acquired by Precoa to further enhance preneed planning services.
