Eutechnyx
A successful computer and video games developer
About Eutechnyx
In 1987, a teenage programmer named Brian Jobling founded a company from his bedroom, creating games for early home computers. This company, initially called Zeppelin Games, laid the groundwork for what would become a specialist in the racing game genre. After an acquisition by American company Merit Studios and a subsequent management buyout in 1996, the company was renamed Eutechnyx. Joined by his brother Darren, the Joblings positioned the studio as a premier independent developer of driving games. Throughout the 2000s, Eutechnyx became a go-to developer for major publishers like Electronic Arts and Namco, known for its expertise in vehicle dynamics. The company expanded globally, with studios in the US and Asia. A key moment arrived in 2010 when Eutechnyx secured the NASCAR license and received a $7.4 million Series A funding round to develop new titles. This led to a series of NASCAR games, making them a significant player in the racing simulation space. However, the company's journey hit a rough patch. The high cost of developing for new consoles proved challenging. Following commercially disappointing results from some games and the high-profile failure of "Ride to Hell: Retribution," the company underwent restructuring, including layoffs. In 2015, the NASCAR license was transferred to Dusenberry Martin Racing (now 704Games), with Eutechnyx developing the final title, NASCAR '15, for the new entity. After this, the company's game output ceased, and it was officially dissolved in May 2025.
